Day trip with dinner ❤️

Trip to Cong with dinner at Pat Cohans. Beautiful home style menu, relaxed atmosphere and spotlessly clean premises and I believe the Guinness was top class too. First visit but not last.

John Wayne’s Pub in Ireland

John Wayne fans know that the famous fight scene in ‘The Quiet Man’ was filmed outside Pat Cohan’s Bar in Cong. To be able to eat a nice meal where The Duke walked is very special. The staff at Cohan’s is very friendly. The interior of the pub is tastefully

decorated with photos taken during filming of the movie. The food is tasty, and the prices are reasonable.

Cong tastic

We had a late lunch on a rainy Sunday after a wedding. The food was first rate delicious fish n chips husband had the beef and Guinness pie.. really good portion and so tasty. The groom joined us later when the kitchen was closed but the Fab staff fed him anyway so thanks for the extra effort after a busy weekend for the chefs Great food great staff what more could you want

Best bar ever

I visited in late August, I travelled there as I am a huge fan of the quiet man film. The staff are really friendly and the guiness was amazing. And if you are lucky enough you will get to pour your own pint like i did.

Fantastic as always

I come through Cong regularly with groups and often stop at Pat Cohen’s. The bar itself is very clean and has a quant feeling too it. The food is always a big hit with a varied menu and a selection of daily specials. The food is great quality and all the staff are very friendly and efficient. Looking forward to our next visit.

Quiet Man fans will love it!

We had a lovely time here at Pat Cohan’s bar. If you watch The Quiet Man with Maureen O’Hara and John Wayne you’ll appreciate it all the more as the outside is a world famous scene in the film. Lots of great photographs of the cast and locals during production of the film The staff were friendly and gave us a warm welcome. Lovely Smithwicks with the sun shining. It was such a lovely place and atmosphere.

Historic and beyond welcoming

One of the finest pubs we visited, with one of the most personable bartenders. The exterior is exactly as it looks in “The Quiet Man”, and I suspect the interior does as well. A must stop for lunch or porter or whiskey when visiting the sweet village of Cong.

Delicious meal – really high quality

We were staying in Long for a night – and wondered where to eat. It could not have been a better choice. Fortunately we rang earlier in the evening to book a table for two because they were very busy – not sure if they would have had room if we hadn’t. For starters I had scallops (a special that evening) pan fried in a lovely sauce and my wife had creme fraiche baked crabmeat, both were delicious. The mains again were wonderful, especially my lemon and garlic roasted cod with jumbo prawns – the cod was good to perfection. My wife had a hake dish (another special). The food was accompanied by a lovely bottle of Verdejo from Rueda. We shared a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake – and finished with decaf coffee. I thought this was a wonderful restaurant – the boss was friendly and concerned that all was well, and the waitress attentive and helpful. Cong’s Culinary Jewel, we decided!

Worth a Long Drive for Best Food in Ireland

My meal here was not only the best I have had in Ireland, but one of the all time best. Local tender pork over potatoes and cabbage with exquisite sauce made for an exceptional dining experience. Plus, the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff cannot be beat. Wonderful in all respects.

Highly recommended

We visited here last weekend and we loved the experience! Met the owners who were lovely people and the food was exceptional. In particular the lamb hot pot. Great if the weather is good as you can sit outside and take in the beautiful village of Cong Enjoyed seeing the place where The quiet man was filmed too which is in this bar and restaurant Definitely a must when visiting
